Terms of Use

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pips & Lies. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.

No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour

Pips & Lies is played against other people. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive players. You agree not to:

• Choose a username or league name that is obscene, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that impersonates another person, a public figure or the developer.
• Harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against another player through any part of the game, including match chat and emojis.
• Exploit bugs, automate play or manipulate ranked results.
• Attempt to gain access to another player's account, or to the game server or database.

Reports of objectionable content and abusive behaviour are reviewed and acted on as promptly as reasonably possible. Accounts that break these rules may have their name removed, their progress, ratings or prizes reset, or the account suspended permanently and without refund. You may appeal a suspension by emailing jonas.fja@gmail.com.

Reporting and blocking

Every player can report and block any opponent. In a lobby, tap the menu beside a player's name; during Pips & Treason, tap or hold a player or chat message. A report may include a recent excerpt of the table chat so the developer can review what happened, and that excerpt can include the channel only traitors can read. Blocking prevents the two accounts from being placed at the same table again, whether it is private, public or ranked. Blocked players can be reviewed and unblocked under Privacy & Account.

Your account

• Guest play requires no email address. Guest profiles and their progress are deleted 30 days after they are created.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for what happens under your account.
• One account per person. Do not share an account, and do not use a second account to avoid a suspension or to influence ranked results.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time under Privacy & Account. Deletion is permanent.

Friends and leagues

• Other players can find you by your username and send you a friend request. Friends can see each other's ranked ratings and public Pips & Treason statistics.
• A Pips & Treason league is a private scoreboard for a group of players. Its owner names it and can remove members, reset the standings or delete the league. If the owner deletes their account, the league passes to another member.
• League matches are played at private tables and never affect rating, trophies or seasons.

Your content

Content you create in Pips & Lies includes your public player name, the names of leagues you create, and messages you send in Pips & Treason match chat. You keep whatever rights you have in that content and grant permission to display it to the players it is meant for and, when reported, to store and review a limited excerpt for safety and enforcement. Your player name, avatar and banner may appear on the leaderboards and on season and event standings for as long as the account exists. You confirm that you have the right to use the content you send.

Ranked play, seasons and events

• Only matches the game server sets up through ranked matchmaking or a live event count toward ratings, trophies, seasons and events. Private tables never do.
• Seasons and live events run for the dates shown in the app, with the rules and minimum number of matches shown there. Only permanent accounts appear on their standings.
• Prizes are cosmetic items with no monetary value. They are awarded automatically after a season or event closes, to the places shown in the app; players who share a place each receive that place's prize. Prizes cannot be exchanged, transferred or bought.
• Results obtained by breaking these terms — through a second account, collusion, automation or exploiting a bug — can be removed, and prizes withheld or taken back.
• The developer may change, extend, shorten or cancel a season or event, for example after a fault. Apple is not a sponsor of, and is not involved in, any season, event or prize.

Purchases and subscriptions

Some features, such as Pro, may be offered as in-app purchases or auto-renewing subscriptions. They are bought through the App Store and charged to your Apple ID. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and it can be managed or cancelled in your Apple ID's subscription settings. A free trial, if one is offered, turns into a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. What a purchase includes is described in the app when you buy it; features that are marked as not yet included are not part of it.

The game itself

• Pips & Lies is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be available at all times or free of faults. Matches are held in server memory, so a server restart ends any match in progress.
• Ratings, trophies, statistics and cosmetic items have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, and may be adjusted or reset if they were obtained by breaking these rules. The items on offer may change over time.
• The game contains no gambling. No real money is wagered, and nothing in the game can be won or lost for money.
• The app, its artwork, its name and its code belong to the developer. Do not copy, resell or reverse engineer them.

Changes and ending the agreement

These terms may change as the game changes. Material changes are shown in the app and must be accepted before playing again. You may end this agreement at any time by deleting your account and removing the app.
