Pips &
Treason

TRUST. PROMISE. BETRAY.

Six to ten players, and two to four of them are traitors. Every promise is made out loud, and the dice run out.

The Pips & Treason table in the app: ten players around a round table, with the operation, the vote and your dice

The table

Who is sitting with you

  1. Most of the table

    Loyals

Loyals want every operation to succeed. They keep their promises, and have to work out who at the table will not.

  2. Two to four, depending on the table

    Traitors

Traitors know each other and talk in a channel only they can read. They break a promise when it counts, and try not to be caught doing it.

  3. One at every table

    The Auditor

One loyal who knows who the traitors are, and has to steer the table to them without giving away how they know.

  4. One of the traitors

    The Hunter

The traitor who holds the last accusation. If the loyals reach three, the Hunter names the player they think is the Auditor. The other traitors can see who the Hunter is, and make their case in the channel only traitors can read.

How it works

One operation, start to finish

  1. 01

    Name a team, make promises

Each operation has a leader. The leader picks the team, and every player on it promises a number. All of it is said out loud.

  2. 02

    The table votes

Everyone casts a ballot, approve or reject. The ballots are sealed and turn over together. Reject too often, and the traitors take the operation.

  3. 03

    The team plays in secret

Each player on the team plays a die. Loyals are expected to play what they promised. A traitor can play something else.

  4. 04

    The dice are read out

The team promised a total, and the dice are added up against it. A broken promise can fail the operation, and anyone can call LIAR on a player they think lied.

The match

A race to three, and one last move

A match is played in operations. Whoever takes three first is ahead: the loyals by succeeding, the traitors by making operations fail.

Example: the loyals lead two operations to one.
The hunt

The traitors get one last move

If the loyals reach three first, the match is not over. The Hunter, one of the traitors, names the player they think is the Auditor. A hit, and the traitors win the whole match. A miss, and the loyals do.

The Auditor has to help the table without giving away how they know.
